2024 BMW i5 eDrive40 charging flap

Hi guys. I recently bought a BMW eDrive40 (November 2023) and have been extremely satisfied with its performance. However, I encountered a minor issue last night. The instrument cluster displayed an error message, indicating that the charging flap was open despite being closed. Although the flap did not respond to attempts to open it, the dealership confirmed that this could be an isolated incident because they had not received any similar reports. As a precaution, I'll set up a service appointment for this weekend to perform a more thorough inspection. They also offered to tow my car for free, which was a good thing considering I was able to fully charge it.

Try holding the volume button on the steering wheel for about 30 seconds to reset the entire system.

Try holding the volume button on the steering wheel for about 30 seconds to reset the entire system.

The dealership had to replace it with a new charging port assembly. Now it's back to normal.
