Info on BMW i5 Recall

I received a recall notice from BMW today regarding our i5. The recall is about a potential issue with the Integrated Brake (IB) system, which may not have been made according to specifications. If this system malfunctions, it could lead to reduced power-assisted braking and increase stopping distances, which heightens the risk of a crash. The ABS and stability control systems may also not function properly, although mechanical braking and the emergency brake will still work.

Currently, there are no parts available for the repair, and BMW has not provided a timeline for when they will be ready. Once the parts are available, the repair will be performed at no charge and is expected to take a few hours at an authorized BMW center.

If your i5 hasn't prompted you with a notification about a recall or service campaign related to the brake booster, it's likely not affected. The software update will automatically detect any issues and alert you if necessary. Your dealership will also check during your next routine maintenance.
