I've been trying to figure out how to best use the pre-conditioning feature on my EV. I set my departure time for 7 AM and leave the car plugged in every night. Does it matter if I don't actually leave at 7 AM?

Also, my wall EVSE is set to charge between midnight and 6 AM to take advantage of the cheap electricity. Does pre-conditioning help with battery efficiency? I don't need climate control, just warming the battery.

Preconditioning your car can definitely give it a boost in cold weather and is super handy if you’re planning to hit up a DC fast charger. Just remember, preconditioning uses up some energy too, so you might not see huge savings on your electricity bill if you’re doing it all the time. Personally, I only bother with preconditioning when I’m about to charge up the car.
