Does anyone know how the new "Active Lane Change Assistant" with eye confirmation works on the i5? Now in its eighth generation, the BMW 5 Series introduces this game-changing feature, letting drivers change lanes with just a glance at the side mirrors. But what if you’re just, you know, glancing?

That new Active Lane Change Assistant on the i5 sounds pretty slick no? but yeah, the eye-tracking thing does raise some questions. I get the idea. it's supposed to be more intuitive than just hitting a turn signal but what if you're just checking your blind spot or looking at something interesting out the side window? Does it trigger the lane change then?

I'd imagine there's some kind of logic built-in to differentiate between a casual glance and an intentional lane change. Maybe it combines the eye-tracking with the turn signal or steering input. Hopefully, it's not too sensitive, or you'll be weaving all over the place!

Yeah, I’m curious too. It’d be nice if the system only activates when it senses you're actively trying to make a move, like if your gaze is accompanied by slight steering input or the turn signal. Otherwise, it might get super annoying if you’re just looking around. Hopefully, BMW’s got a solid algorithm to avoid false triggers!
