i5 M60 - The Charging Cable Has Been Unlocked

Hello, drivers!

A few months ago I finally bought an i5 M60.

I called a certified electrician to install the BMW wall box.

Until now I used it several times, so no questions if it was installed properly or not.

Though, now it is not working anymore. And I don't know what happened.

I only get this message on the BMW application: The charging cable has been unlocked.

I saw someone on a different forum had the same problem. I tried everything from the solutions out there, but still no results.

Do you have any suggestions for this one? I would be grateful.

A couple of times when I needed to charge my car, the app would pop up saying the cord was unlocked, which felt a bit weird. Like, why the warning? But hey, the charging still worked, so I just shrugged it off and went about my day.

Ok, so that “The charging cable has been unlocked” message isn’t an error, it’s just letting you know it’s not plugged in because your ride isn’t charging right now. Why it’s not charging? That’s a whole different story.

Btw, have you set up a charging schedule? If you have, then it looks like preconditioning is in play! You probably picked a specific charging time, so the system might just be waiting until the hours you set to kick things off.
 
I’ve noticed that the charger only unlocks when I flip on the charge in time slot feature. If you haven’t given that a shot yet, it might be worth toggling it on for a bit and then switching it back off. Could help reset the system or something!
 
Make sure it's plugged in right and that the blue light is glowing! If you're still having trouble, just hit up your dealer for some help.

Oh, I didn't realize the message was just informational, haha! 😅 I haven't set up a charging schedule.

I didn't know I could do that... It seems I still have a lot to learn about my car.
