Just got back from a drive to a coastal destination and encountered some charging issues. My first stop at a charging station went fine, but on the way back, the same charger only put out 40 kW, so I switched to a 350 kW unit that delivered about 120 kW. Later, I waited 20 minutes at another station, but it kept shutting off on me. I got frustrated, I switched to a different charging network, which worked perfectly at 195 kW. I'm starting to think it might be better to pay a bit more upfront than to rely on the free charging options, what do y'all think?

Free charging sounds great, but it can be a real pain sometimes. You might run into slow chargers, long lines, or even chargers that just don't work. Paying for a reliable charging network could be worth it, especially if it saves you time and stress.

If you want a stress-free trip, a paid network might be the way to go. But if you're willing to roll with the punches, free charging can still work. Just be prepared for some potential hiccups.

Also, think about how often you'll need to charge, how far you're driving, and your driving style.

I agree; opting for reliable charging options can save you a lot of time and stress in the long run. It’s worth considering what suits your driving needs best..

I have had similar experiences (so, multiple) where the hassle of unreliable chargers really puts a damper on the journey. It is about balancing cost with peace of mind. If you frequently travel long distances or to areas with fewer charging stations, investing in a dependable network might just be the way to go. Plus, you can often find perks with paid networks, like faster charging speeds and fewer outages. Have you looked into any specific charging plans yet?
