Loving the upgrade from my i4 M50, but seriously, where's the bass?! This stock system is all treble and mids, the low-end is MIA. I'm itching to throw in a sub and that hidden compartment in the trunk looks like it was made for it. Anyone already done this? Spill the tea - what subs fit, how'd you wire it up, any tips for a clean install? Bonus points for pics or vids! Thanks in advance.

My son just picked up his 2024 BMW i5, and he's trying to upgrade the sound system. The audio shop told him they don't have a compatible kit yet to install a sub and amp. The shop warned him that using the wrong equipment could seriously damage the car's electrical system.

A sub definitely fills that gap. I’d recommend checking out custom sub kits for the i4 or going with a powered subwoofer, for wiring, tapping into the rear speakers could be a clean option.

I hear you on the bass issue, the hidden compartment in the trunk is perfect for a subwoofer. You can fit a compact 8" or 10" sub with the right wiring kit. You can check out audio forums for subwoofer model recommendations and detailed install guides. A clean install typically involves tapping into the existing speaker wires or using a dedicated amp. You'll definitely notice a difference...

I'm thinking about squeezing in a compact 10" sub for that hidden compartment. If I tap into the rear speakers, how tricky is it to not mess up the car’s electrical system? I really don’t wanna deal with any headaches later on.
